The 2026/2027 academic year at MU Libraries will be marked by the introduction of the new Alma/Primo library system, integrating information about physical collections, electronic resources, and your loans in one place. What can we expect in the coming weeks?
The transition to the new library system is scheduled for August 19, 2026. Data migration will take place a few days before this date, and checks may continue for several days afterward. Therefore, lending services will be significantly limited during this period. Some libraries will be closed, while others will operate in study room mode only. The opening hours of individual libraries can be found on their websites or collectively on the MU Information System noticeboard.
Please borrow any books you will need in advance. Loans with due dates falling within the cutover period will be automatically extended, so no late fees will apply. Books returned during the outage will be removed from user accounts only after the new system is launched.
UPDATE: Active readers’ accounts will be automatically transferred to the new system; there is no need to re-register. New readers will register through the MU Information System (IS MU), where they will also be briefed on the relevant regulations. It will also be possible to cancel your registration through this application.
The existing domains katalog.muni.cz and discovery.muni.cz will be redirected to the Primo service, where registered users, after logging in, will see an overview of their loans and will be able to place holds or renew books. Only current loans will be transferred to the new system. Loan history, saved searches, book lists, and favorite items will not be transferred.
The E-loan service will continue to operate without interruption (or almost without interruption). However, its integration into the new library system will be delayed, so it will temporarily be accessible only via an alternative address vufind.ics.muni.cz, where it will also be possible to retrospectively view your loan history in the current library system. We will notify you specifically when this becomes relevant.
Access to electronic information resources via the ezdroje.muni.cz portal, the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), or directly on providers’ websites will not be affected by the migration to the new library system.

The CARDS project has successfully concluded a contract for the delivery of a new library system and additional solutions for managing and providing access to electronic information resources. Masaryk University is part of this initiative.
