Establishing Cooperation
Masaryk University Libraries actively cooperate at international, national, and university levels. The main areas of cooperation include sharing resources and professional experience with librarians from other institutions and supporting the university's educational and research initiatives. MU Libraries participate in national consortia to purchase electronic information resources and support for open science and research. Cooperation also includes organizing exhibitions, lectures, and other cultural and educational events, supporting university activities aimed at applicants, children, and seniors, and integrating modern technologies into library services.
Erasmus
As part of Masaryk University's participation in the Erasmus program, funded by the European Union to support education, training, youth, and sports in Europe, MU Libraries organize an annual mobility week for foreign librarians, known as MUST LIB Week.
Liber
Masaryk University is a member of the Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche – Association of European Research Libraries – LIBER. The aim of this community, which brings together more than 400 national associations and academic libraries, is cooperation between members, emphasis on collection management, quality services, and information needs.
Educ
In 2023, MU Libraries joined forces with libraries from universities in France, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Norway, and Spain as part of the EDUC (European Digital UniverCity) Alliance. MU Libraries aim to share their experience with partner libraries and develop cooperation, particularly in science and research support.
Foreign Libraries
We cooperate with other libraries within the international interlibrary loan service.
Association of Libraries of Czech Universities (ALCU)
The Association brings together academic libraries in the Czech Republic with the aim of strengthening their competencies, sharing best practices, and promoting common interests. MU Libraries are directly involved in the operation of ALCU.
CzechELib Consortium
The CzechELib National Center procures key electronic resources for the entire research and education community in the Czech Republic, manages them, including usage statistics, and supports open access publishing. It cooperates with MU Libraries in e-resource procurement and APC fee monitoring.
Association of Library and Information Professionals of the Czech Republic
SKIP (in Czech) is the largest professional organization of librarians, information workers, and libraries in the Czech Republic. MU Libraries have been members for many years.
European Open Science Cloud CZ
EOSC CZ is the Czech section of a European initiative focused on developing infrastructure that supports open science practices in research data management. MU Libraries provide information and training, and selected librarians participate in the EOSC CZ working groups.
National Library of the Czech Republic
Masaryk University Libraries regularly contribute to the Czech Union Catalogue, to the database of articles in Czech newspapers, magazines, anthologies, and the Digitization Register, and have long been involved in the cooperative creation of the National Authority File.
Book Covers National Service
The Book Covers National Service project combines various sources of information about books into one easy-to-use web service. MU Libraries scan book covers and contents and store them for easy sharing among libraries in the Czech Republic, including integration into the MU library catalog.
Local Libraries
We cooperate with other libraries within the interlibrary loan service and in organizing cultural events.
MUNIpress Publishing House
In cooperation with the university publishing house, MU Libraries participate in the publishing activities of individual faculties, including monographs, scientific journals, and working papers.
Department of Information and Library Studies (KISK in Czech)
Cooperation with this academic institution, which trains future librarians, takes place on several levels. MU Libraries serve as a teaching environment for student internships, while librarians are also involved in direct teaching at the workplace.
Pedagogical Competence Development Centre (CERPEK in Czech)
MU Libraries support CERPEK by providing relevant literature for their educational courses and offering seminars on information literacy as part of their portfolio.
Masaryk University Cultural Center (KUC in Czech)
MU Libraries have representative spaces where they organize exhibitions, specialized lectures, author readings, and book launches. We also offer these spaces for various conferences or social events within MU.
Junior University (MjUNI in Czech)
MU Libraries strive to deepen children's and teenagers' relationship to lifelong learning, promote critical thinking, and expand their knowledge of technology and reading literacy through its program for children and teenagers.
Office for External Relations (faculty)
MU Libraries have long collaborated on organizing Open Days, Open House events, and similar events for prospective students.
University of the Third Age (U3V in Czech)
U3V students can visit all MU libraries free of charge. The Faculty of Social Studies Library and the Faculty of Education Library include a fully equipped study room, which is available to students. An assistant is on hand to advise them on smart technologies, show them around the library, and provide facilities for further education.

AI@MUNI Working Group
In cooperation with other experts from the university, MU Libraries are striving to appropriately incorporate artificial intelligence tools into their services.
MU Sustainable Development Council
Libraries have long supported the issue of sustainability, and as part of project 7.4. NPO “Green Skills” KA4 – Sustainability Strategy and Green Transformation, they are involved in evaluating the Sustainability Strategy.
Open Science Centre at MU
The MU library staff includes Open Science methodologists who can be consulted by researchers and doctoral students on matters related to open publishing, FAIR data, and predatory journals.
Centre for Scientometric Support and Evaluation
MU Libraries participate in reporting publications to RIV, managing the university repository, and compiling bibliometric reports for internal evaluation of scientific performance.
Language Centers (faculty)
Cooperation is in the works.
