The first librarian barcamp focused on AI and everyday operations
The Librarian Barcamp, organized by MU Libraries on January 22, 2026, became a venue for intensive sharing of know-how across the entire university.
As has already been officially communicated by the National Technical Library, the CARDS project has successfully concluded a contract with Exlibris for the delivery of a new library system and additional solutions for managing and providing access to electronic information resources. Masaryk University is part of this initiative.
Put simply, instead of the current Aleph library system, MU Libraries will be using Alma. Direct access to it will be limited to librarians. Users will work with Primo, which will integrate and replace two existing web services: the user access point to the library catalogue at https://katalog.muni.cz/ and the unified indexing and discovery service for electronic resources at https://discovery.muni.cz/.
Those interested can familiarize themselves with the new system through short videos at ExLibris Knowledge Centrer. As part of the CARDS project, more than thirty institutions will migrate to the new systems in three waves, and MU is included in the very first one, which is already underway. If all goes well, our university should begin using the new systems in September 2026.

Since November, the handbook We're writing a scientific paper: A guide for novice authors by our colleague Jiří Kratochvíl has been on sale.
