ORCID Integration at IS MU

Starting in the autumn semester 2025, the plan is to launch a live synchronisation of data from the IS MU to the ORCID service. What does this mean for users?

It will be compulsory for all researchers at MU to create an ORCID personal identifier, i.e. both publishing staff and PhD students; if you do not have one yet, it may be high time to create one. Regardless of this obligation, users retain control over what content in their profiles is posted there and to what extent.

The following data will be transferred from the IS MU to the ORCID service with Masaryk University as the source of information:

  1. The person's affiliation with MU, including the faculty specification.
  2. All current job positions including the specific department.
  3. Active doctoral studies including faculty and specific department(s).
  4. Information on publications and other results, noting that
    • will be able to set up automatic transfer of specific types of results (e.g., J, D, B, C, etc.);
    • will be able to individually tag ‘your’ result for transfer to ORCID.

All transferred data can be edited by the author in his/her profile and published to all, published only to trusted parties, or hidden. A profile can be linked to multiple institutions simultaneously and the link remains valid even after the active relationship with MU (employment or study) has ended. However, the user can cancel the link himself.

Any questions about the ORCID profile can be addressed to ORCID methodologists.
